Jobs & Businesses
Aims
Increase local trade and employment
Increase Christmas trade
Increase pride in community facilities and businesses
Increase engagement of local people in services that support economic activity
Increase in economic activity
What we will do: The Partnership will produce annually a ward business directory and a local business promotion event with the aid of Communities First Team. The Melincryddan Community Conference will continue to develop the Christmas street decorations in Neath East by decorating more of the main thoroughfare through the Ward as funds become available. The partnership and community first staff will seek suitable locations/buildings to develop workshop units for start-up businesses. The Partnership, the Melincryddan Community Conference and the Communities First Team will work closely with organisations such as: Job centre plus, Broker Cymru, the Condition Management Programme, the New Learning Network, Shaw Trust, Careers Wales West, Welfare Rights etc to promote and facilitate their work and services.
Why we are doing this: The business directory will promote local trade and employment opportunities. The Christmas street lighting will stimulate pride in the local community and encourage local Christmas trade. Premises for workshop units (if located) will provide low-cost start-up units for local businesses to develop increasing local GDP and employment opportunities. Working with partner organisations to get people engaged with their services will increase economic activity, raise confidence and boost local GDP. This also links in with the work of the Melin Advice Centre (see later).
